What can you do with the CollabNet Web Services APIs?
CollabNet's web services APIs provide a complement to CollabNet's Application Lifecycle Management suite. Programmatic access to Project Tracker enables tracker to perform as a universal artifact hub with lifecycle stakeholders using the web service to access tracker from their preferred client or tool. For example:
- Sales automation: Using data from a customer call entered into Salesforce.com, automatically create a Project Tracker case artifact to help you manage the issue through to closure.
- Requirements management: Create requirements and then automatically generate Project Tracker action item artifacts to help your developers track the requirements through to completion.
- Defect and task management: Software developers can access and manage defects/tasks in Project Tracker from within their Eclipse or preferred IDE.
- QA testing:Write test cases in Mercury Quality Center. Automatically create Project Tracker defect artifacts and test case artifacts to track your test results through to resolution.
- Corporate reporting: Pull key data from a variety of business applications for management analysis and decision support.
With the release of CollabNet Enterprise Edition 5.0, basic access to domain, project and membership data is available through the framework API:
- Domain and Project automation: Clients can manage tasks related to the domain and projects. Users of this API can get the list of current users for a given project, search for users, and verify which projects a given user has with a given permission. Managers of a site can organize their host by moving projects among categories, parent projects, etc., after viewing the project attributes.
- Membership automation: Regular tasks to manage project membership can be combined with the Domain and Project automation methods to grant and revoke roles for users. Clients can listing project members and owners and view data about them.
